Setting out

Evaluation Trenches Where the sample percentage of a rural site is often up to 5% this may mean 100s of machine-dug evaluation trenches in order to locate archaeology. This kind of work is usually carried out under extreme constraints of time.

Our GPS surveying service is easily applied to such work. Its speed, accuracy and economy often surpasses the effectiveness of conventional methods, such as Total Station.

The GPS has the added advantage of not having to rely on hard detail to obtain National Grid co-ordinates. This enables the easy setting out of Control Stations

The use of GPS for setting out Field-walking transects and Site grids has also proven very succesful.
